There are gaps in my TV coverage--many that I'll never take the time to fill in. My only excuse is time poverty.

I can't believe THAT is in the dictionary! (Well, I can, but it makes my brain hurt.)

Want to hear something weird? I've never seen a single episode of Dr. Who. I didn't have a TV back when it was popular. That's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it.

I just saw the second episode of the season. It was back to the previous season's standards. Lots of fun. Arooooooo!

I haven't seen a public apology for that first episode. Have they no shame?

    Heh-heh-heh...you said "fandom."

Yay, Virge! Thanks for being funny, insightful you, and for running the OEDILF's site. Keep up the fine work.

"Umm... it's Dr Who. It's for the 6-9 year old market - always has been."

Pre 2005, I'd agree with you. Evidence from the realms of new Dr Who fandom suggests otherwise.

Or did I just miss a joke? Um... it's early for me, ok?

  • Must gouge out eyes now...   18 years 28 weeks ago

the BBC must've made an executive decision to target the 6-9 year old market

Umm... it's Dr Who. It's for the 6-9 year old market - always has been.

I grabbed all of your files last time I zombied your PC.
Don't worry. I wasn't planning to publish them until you're rich and famous. ;-)

For a moment, there, I thought you stole one of my favourite Notepad files. "notes1," maybe, or "badideas3."

  • Telling Fibs   18 years 30 weeks ago

I agree. They've trodden the geek haiku path. One poster (archeopterix) nailed it with:

    Yeah.
    Right.
    Breaking
    A sentence
    Into syllables
Does not a poem make - how pointless

  • Telling Fibs   18 years 30 weeks ago

The /. entries are more sentences than poems. They don't compress a variety of thought, emotion and observation but instead arrange a sentence in a poetic-appearing order.

    ...
    Hmmm...
    Fibs;
    I shall
    Have to try
    Composing my own,
    Unrepentant geek that I am.

I certainly didn't! I have enough trouble with heartburn, without sucking down paper! Ew.

I certainly didn't, and I'm pretty sure Socar didn't. She'll be pleased to know that her imaginative descriptions were effective.

I enjoyed the pumpkin soup, but only after removing all the paper strips. They only stayed in there for long enough to snap the photos.

The gingerbread and meringue were all trashed after photography. I'd had enough utensil-licking sweetness while I was cooking.

The writing almost makes me wonder whether either of you ah, tasted a bit of paper to get the description down vividly. Almost.

Fabulously done. A very enjoyable read :)

    Violets are blue
    Roses are red
    If you were my Valentine
    You'd have no head

    Hormone-driven:

    Roses are red
    Truffles are black
    And bloody expensive--
    so hop in the sack!

    Goth AND hormone-driven:

    Roses are thorny
    Corpses are dead.
    I'm hoping this poem
    Will get me some head.
