Beyond Expectations (Reclaiming Art Part 3)
The buzz surrounding the Reclaiming Art hoax wasn't limited to the EK forums. I went to bed around 2:30am after watching the fun on EK. On Saturday morning when I logged in, all hell had broken loose. Since ConceptArt and EatPoo had been disparaged by our pseudo-evangelicals an enraged EKer had felt obliged to direct their attention to the slight.
The Unintended Victims
Here's what happened on ConceptArt.org. There were 113 messages and 2000 views at last check. Reclaiming Art had hit a nerve (and a funny bone for some).
- hahahaha... thats great. i love religious fanatics.
- Are they serious? Lets go all sign up and FERVENTLY agree with the guy. Then laugh it up over here when he posts more BS. And lets all draw REALLY satanic pictures and post them and ask whether those are considered satanic or not. Hehe, not too nice though, but he did call us satanists and pagans...
- Now this is funny. They notices that a lot of the same artists get recognition all over the place! WOW, they're really smart people huh.
Well, they failed to notice that the reason behind that is their technical skill, and the fact that many of them market themselves well, with Gnomon DVDs and such. - hahahhahahhahahahahhaahhahahahahhaa
omg *whew* that mad my day. haha hehe he.. - Man, you GOTTA go through the whole forum, it is hilarious! They seem to be stuck on Socar Myles too. Keep bringing her up all the time!
And there are only like 5 people who fill up that whole forum too. - Gawd, this is priceless! I just opened it up and it had an ad for "sexy" personals at passion.com!

- what's funny is at one time computers were thought to be the work of the Devil... This looks to be like they are starting a witch hunt ( they will probably think we are referring to ourselves as the witches with this one sentence... Gullable and Ignorant if they do)
Since they cannot understand this so called secret code... are they referring to words that are artistic terms used for generations since painters were painting for GOD and the Church or are they referring to OMG and LOL... if that is the case they havent used a computer that much....
The word PING comes to mind when it comes to thier access to the web. - what i want to know is who went to that place in the first place? i do have a ezboard pass though ;D maybe i should abuse it... no i will let the poor souls be, boor andrew and joshua must have a hard enought ime anyway...
why are the two angels kissing, they are children yes? omg! - WOW! What complete insanity. So, judging by the fact that the owners of that site has a Bouguereau painting presented, and the words 'Reclaiming Art For God", on it, they must think we artist should only paint pictures of angels and Jesus? Anything else that doesn't make sense to there religion is evil? And the sun revolves around the Earth, and the Earth is still the center of the universe. And the illogic continues.

- you know, as a christian, i find that idiotic forum to be insulting. Who are those people to judge art as "paganistic". That really paints a sad picture of other Christians. I mean, i love the content of this forum. I love all of the art presented here. In fact, probably my fave artist on here is Puddnhead(that would probably kill a backwoods old churchlady like thos admins.) That site is just stupid. I hope that doesnt ruin you guys' opinion on the rest of the church. Or maybe im just too liberal :-{

- Well, I didn't have much of an issue with it until I noticed they started posting in forums trying to turn us to whatever faith it is they are following (cause it isn't christianity). I feel sorry for them, living like that. Makes you wonder if it's the same type of people who take a pill and but pillows over their heads because "god has arrived".

having a religious background (my dad is a preacher) ive seen the good and bad parts of religion, and while not very religious myself, i sympethize with those who are bashed just for being part of X religion. but these people are truly living in their own wierd little bubble. the fact that they even touch a computer is amazing to me.

I'd hesitate to even call them Christians. The simple fact of what that women wrote about her son being beyond forgiveness is something that no real Christian would say ever. It's as simple as that. They seem like a fundamentalist militant communal cult. Even "republican" is too good a discription for them.

And even after our revelation letter was plastered across Reclaiming Art and posted to all the enraged boards, there were some who thought that EK had just hacked the offending Christian site e.g.

The responses in EatPoo's Toilet Forum were of a similar vein, so I won't try to list them here. There were 138 messages and 2819 views. The EatPoo chatroom was buzzing too:

they have guns - Are we SURE this isn't a joke, by the way?
- If I had to bet money I'd say it wasn't
And the responses after we revealed all were mostly expressions of pure wicked delight.
